Ellen Brill, Set Decorator

After many years in the fashion business, Ellen Brill enrolled in the UCLA Interior Design Program. During the 4-year program, she worked with several interior designers, shopping and learning the business. Color and materials were of particular interest. After completing her studies in 1991, she worked as an intern in the art department of an independent film. Within the first week, she became the set decorator. At the completion of the film, she was presented another set decoration job. Ellen has been a set decorator on feature films and television ever since.

Ellen has been nominated for three Emmys: The pilot episode of the hit drama 24, the comedy Arrested Development, as well as for the 3rd season of Nip/Tuck. She has been the set decorator on all four seasons of this controversial and perfectly disturbing show. She has also been the set decorator on The Bernie Mac Show, the HBO series Entourage, My Wife and Kids, and many other TV shows and feature films.

Ellen serves as a member of the Executive Board of the Set Decorators Society of America. One of her favorite events is the "Day with Set Decorators", where students visit sets and prop houses with decorators to learn the Set Decorating process.
